APPLICATION PROCESS (MUST READ AND FOLLOW)

Applicants should review the application in full before attempting to complete the following requirements. The Application for admission and all supporting documentation should be sent to the Registrar, INTERNATIONAL PACIFIC SCHOOL OF LAW, 3350 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 777, Los Angeles, California 90010, U.S.A. All materials, including letters of recommendation must be clearly identified with the applicant’s full name.

The application and the required attachments may be initially submitted online to the Registrar by email at www.paclawschool.com, but must be followed by the printed form, and attachments, signed and initialed on each page by applicant and submitted by mail and accompanied by the non-refundable application fee of USD $ 250.00, which must be received by IPSL prior to consideration for admission. The application fee may be paid by international money order or a cashier’s check drawn on a United States financial institution or, if arranged previously with the Registrar, by wire transfer to IPSL.

Applicants may choose to submit up to a maximum of three letters of recommendation, in English, to support their admission application from persons, other than relatives, who are familiar with the applicant’s potential to successfully study and complete the course of legal studies leading to a J.D. degree and successful completion of the California State Bar Examination.

Each applicant is required to submit a personal statement in English describing the applicant’s personal history to date, no longer than three letter sized pages, typed and double spaced, with the printed application for admission. Each applicant is also required to submit one essay, in English, of no more than two letter sized pages in length, typed and double spaced, with a focus on why the applicant is interested in the study of law and why the applicant is focused on California law and the California Bar Examination. Each applicant is also required to sign and return a copy of the Student Disclosure Statement as a part of the application for Admission.

All applicants must have completed at least two (2) years of college work (sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours which is equivalent to half that required for a Bachelors degree, or the foreign equivalent thereof, with a grade average adequate for graduation). Each applicant must submit their official transcript(s) for evaluation to a Credential Evaluation Service approved by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. A list of current approved evaluation services is attached to this application for the information of applicants. It is the applicant’s sole responsibility to ensure that the results of such examination are transmitted by the selected evaluation service to IPSL. Admission consideration by IPSL cannot take place until the results of such evaluation are received by IPSL.

The applicant should complete and submit this application for admission as early as possible so that the complete application can be considered as soon as possible for commencement of the First Year Academic studies, if admission is approved by IPSL. Applicants are also encouraged to examine the rules and regulations of the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State of California to determine if there is anything that might adversely affect their eligibility for admission to the California Bar. All accepted applicants are required to register, at their earliest convenience, with the State Bar of California, with a copy to IPSL. More information is available from the Registrar of IPSL.

In addition to the foregoing, each applicant will be required to complete a telephonic interview, of not less than 15 minutes, with a member of the IPSL Admissions Committee during the application process and prior to any decision by IPSL as to admission of the applicant. The purpose of this interview is to judge the applicants’ level of skill in speaking and understanding spoken English. All courses at IPSL are conducted solely in the English language.

The method of instruction at this Law School is principally by correspondence. Students enrolled in the J.D. program at this Law School who successfully complete the first year of law study must pass the First-Year Law Students’ Examination required by Business and Professions Code Section 6060 (h) and Rule VIII of the Rules Regulating Admission to Practice Law in California as part of the requirement to take the California Bar Examination. A student who passes the First-Year Law Students’ Examination within three (3) administrations of the examination after first becoming eligible to take it will receive credit for all legal studies completed to the time the examination is passed. A student who does not pass the examination within three (3) administrations of the examination after first becoming eligible to take it must be promptly disqualified from the law school’s J.D. degree program. If the dismissed student subsequently passes the examination, the student is eligible for re-enrollment in this law school’s J.D. degree program, but will receive credit for only one year of legal study.

Study at, or graduation from this law school may not qualify a student to take the bar examination or to satisfy the requirements for admission to practice in jurisdictions other than California. A student intending to seek admission to practice law in a jurisdiction other than California should contact the admitting authority in that jurisdiction for information regarding the legal education requirements in that jurisdiction for admission to the practice of law and whether or not study at IPSL will be accepted to meet their educational requirements.

NOTE: IPSL is a Correspondence Law School. Students at IPSL are REQUIRED to spend 1 hour for EACH hour of class weekly in study and preparation. Further, students are required to spend not less that 864 study, preparation and class hours each year for four years and maintain a cumulative grade point average of not less than 70 in order to be awarded the J.D. degree by IPSL and to qualify to take the California State Bar Examination.

All fees and tuition must be paid in full, in United States Dollars, and received by IPSL, prior to graduation. No degree will be conferred or transcript issued until all financial obligations have been completed or otherwise cleared with the Registrar of IPSL. All application materials sent to IPSL become the property of IPSL and cannot be returned. The application fee of USD $250.00 is non-refundable.
